1st Year: In Review

It has officially been 1 year since Jason started at Southwest. During this time, we have had the opportunity to travel all over. In the past ONE YEAR we have been to:

California Wine Country (2 times)

San Francisco, CA (3 times)

Puerto Rico

Barbados

St. Lucia

Antigua

St. Croix

St. Maarten

Chicago - (6 times for me, 1 for Jason)

Phoenix, AZ and the Grand Canyon

Austin, TX

Denver, CO

Washington D.C.

Miami, FL 

Seattle, WA

Las Vegas, NV 

Minneapolis, MN

WOW, how absolutely crazy it is to look at all of that listed out. I think the only airfare we actually paid for was to get to Puerto Rico and back! We have been some amazing places and eaten some amazing food over the past year. I'm still finding it hard to believe that we've gotten to do so much for so little.

As much as I hate to admit it, I'm a little burnt out on travel. Thankfully, our next scheduled trip isn't until September. We will be making a 2 1/2 week trip to visit John and Mallory in France! We are SO excited! This will be our first experience with flying standby on another airline, so we're hoping for the best.

Knowing us and how much we are addicted to travel, I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up in New Orleans or somewhere in Texas for a quick weekend trip in a few weeks. Stay tuned and thanks for reading!

2012 - A Year of Experiences

I'm not one for New Year's resolutions and here we are at the end of January anyways. I do like to have a theme for the year, where I really try to focus on different aspects of my life and improve on them. This year, I'm hoping for many opportunities to step outside my comfort zone and experience life more fully. This wasn't a hard theme to pick, considering our circumstances.

I recently had a discussion about travel with someone who asked me the question, "But can you afford it? You're going to regret not saving that extra money for retirement?" I see where they're coming from, but honestly, it was never a consideration for me. Travel is one of the things in life that you buy that makes you richer. (The other, in my opinion, is education). There will never be that "perfect" time to travel. There will always be life standing in the way. This year, I will be making a conscience effort to make every day a day full of great experiences. I want to be able to look back at my life and smile at all of the great memories I have made.

Tomorrow, we're going to embark on our first of many trips this year - Phoenix, AZ! I've been researching activities and places to eat for the past week and we have some great stuff planned. I'm also excited to say that we will be taking a day trip to the Grand Canyon! This has been on my bucket list (to be revealed in a future post) for quite some time, so I can't wait! It's supposed to be beautiful in the winter as well...
