Here is the last recap of our Southern Caribbean Cruise.
Jason and I love kayaking, so we booked the Salt River Kayaking tour in St. Croix. The tour took us to the Salt River National Park and Ecological Preserve.
The water was extremely calm and we got the chance to listen to the guide talk about the various Indian burial grounds and villages that were originally here. Christopher Columbus anchored outside the reef at Salt River in 1493 and we sunbathed at his original landing site.

The mangrove trees were absolutely beautiful and we got a chance to see iguanas and a variety of birds. There is a bioluminescent bay here, but since it was a daytime tour, we couldn't really see the effects.
We had time to eat lunch in "downtown" St. John's and swim in the beach for a while before we had to be back at the boat. This was our last night on board before we disembarked.
So - our overall thoughts on cruising? It's just not for us. I think it just comes down to the fact that we like more freedom in our travel choices. It's a GREAT way to see a lot of places at once, so I definitely understand why people do it.
I'm not totally ruling out cruises in our future, but I will say we won't be doing another Caribbean one. I'd much rather spend my time exploring one place in depth.
My favorite part of this trip was the time we spent in our final destination - San Juan, Puerto Rico! We ate some great food, walked around Old San Juan, explored the rainforest and relaxed at our amazing hotel - the La Concha Renaissance. This was our second time here and we can't wait to go back! If you click the link above, you can read about more of our favorite things to do here.
We'll be back Puerto Rico - we'll be back!
